KJH Attendance Waivers

Who May Attend Kenmore Junior High? Any student who lives within the boundary served by our school may attend. Students who do not live within the Kenmore Junior High School service area may also attend our school, but they must request an Attendance Waiver (if they live within the Northshore School District) or an Out-of-District Release (if they live outside the Northshore School district). Current space at the requested school, along with school growth patterns, constitute the primary factors in determining waiver approval. Transfers substantially related to disciplinary issues or transfers for extra-curricular interests may not be approved. Waiver requests for the following school year may be submitted at any time, but priority consideration will be given to those received between January 1 and March 1. For waiver consideration, the parent must demonstrate the following conditions: The student has not been expelled or suspended from any school for possession of a firearm, dangerous weapon, or for exceptional misconduct. The student has demonstrated an acceptable attendance pattern and passing grades at the school s/he currently attends. The parent demonstrates the ability to provide punctual transportation and supervision to and from school each day, and to comply with district policies relating to attendance and academic standards. Attendance Waiver request forms may be obtained from Ms. Linda Kelly, in the School District's Office of Student Services (Room 5, Ricketts Admin. Bldg.) or any School Office. Out-of-District Release forms may be obtained by contacting the Office of Student Services at the address shown below: Northshore School District Office of Student Services 18315 Bothell Way NE Bothell WA 98011-1983 Phone: (425) 489-6269 FAX: (425) 489-6007 NOTE: Attendance Waivers and Out-of-District Releases are granted on an annual basis, since enrollment priority must belong to students residing within our school's service area. Therefore, Kenmore Junior High students who currently reside outside our school's service area must reapply for an Attendance Waiver or Out-of District Release every year that they wish to attend our school.
