At KJH, class periods are 55 minutes long, with a 5-minute passing time to allow students time to get to their next class. In most cases, our teachers expect students to be in their next class before the bell rings to signal the start of the period. Missing the start of the class without a note from another staff member will cause a student to be recorded as tardy for that class. Lunches take place during the students' 4th period class. The schedule of three different lunches is based primarily on the capacity of our cafeteria. At each lunch, you will find students from all three grade levels eating together, visiting or helping each other with an assignment. On a typical school day, First Lunch runs from 11:00 - 11:30; Second Lunch runs from 11:30 - 12:00; Third Lunch runs from 12:00 - 12:30. On days in which we're following an Assembly Schedule, lunch periods still last 30 minutes, but the starting and ending times for each lunch are delayed by the same number of minutes after 11:00 AM that 4th period begins.
